Sustainability is becoming a bigger part of how we design, produce and deliver lighting solutions. With the 2025 Sustainability Report, we give customers, partners and stakeholders a clearer view of the progress we are making and the direction we are taking for the future.

This report shows how we are moving from building ESG foundations to making sustainability part of everyday decisions, from product innovation and supply chain management to climate action, governance and employee development.

Why sustainability matters to OPPLE?

Lighting has a direct impact on energy use, comfort, safety and the way people experience spaces. That is why sustainability is closely connected to our role as a lighting company.

We want to create solutions that help customers reduce energy consumption, improve comfort and make buildings more future ready. This means looking beyond the product itself and considering the full lifecycle, from design and manufacturing to use, maintenance and end of life.

Our mission is to create value with light. Sustainability helps us make that mission more practical, measurable and relevant for the people and environments we serve.

What changed between the 2024 and 2025 reports?

The biggest difference between the 2024 and 2025 reports is maturity.

In 2024, the focus was mainly on building the ESG foundation. In 2025, we took the next step by embedding sustainability more deeply into decision making, risk management, product development and accountability.

Some of the most important changes include:

ESG governance became more structured and more closely connected to company management
Sustainability performance became more linked to accountability and decision making
Renewable energy usage increased from 11.4 percent to 23.2 percent
Recyclable packaging increased from 84 percent to 94.9 percent
• Scope 1 emissions were reduced by around 32 percent
• All operating sites are now covered by ISO 14001 environmental management
• Supplier sustainability requirements became stronger and more structured
• Digital and AI driven systems became more important in quality, innovation and operations

This shows a clear shift. Sustainability is no longer only a framework around the business. It is becoming part of how we improve the business.

What improvements have been made?

Several improvements stand out in the 2025 report.

  • More progress in climate action

We continued to invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency and green manufacturing. Solar photovoltaic generation reached more than 26 million kWh, and we further developed climate risk analysis based on international scenarios.

  • Stronger external recognition

The 2025 report also highlights important external recognition, including the EcoVadis Bronze medal (indicates that OPPLE performs above a significant portion of companies assessed by EcoVadis) and an improved CDP (one of the most internationally recognized environmental disclosure systems) climate rating of B. These results show that our progress is being recognised outside the company as well.

  • More data driven sustainability

We are using digital tools, intelligent systems and AI supported processes to improve quality, operations and risk management. This makes sustainability more measurable and helps us make better decisions based on real data.

  • A stronger supply chain approach

We are moving from supplier compliance to a more complete sustainable supply ecosystem. Core suppliers are expected to meet stricter environmental standards, and supplier environmental performance is monitored more actively.

  • More intelligent product quality management

Quality is also part of sustainability. In 2025, we strengthened our quality systems with AI driven tools and full lifecycle traceability, from design and production to after sales. This helps us identify risks earlier, improve reliability and create better user experiences.

  • Stronger governance and accountability

We strengthened ESG governance by integrating responsibilities more clearly at Board level and adding ESG oversight to the Audit Committee. This helps ensure that sustainability is not managed separately, but as part of business performance and long term decision making.

What is the current focus of OPPLE’s sustainability strategy?

Our current sustainability strategy is focused on making innovation practical, measurable and useful for real applications.

The strategy is built around four main areas:

Intelligent and green product innovation
We continue to develop smart lighting, SDL technology, AI enabled systems and solutions that support health, comfort and energy efficiency.

Low carbon operations and climate action
We are expanding renewable energy, improving energy efficiency and strengthening green manufacturing across our operations.

• A responsible value chain
We are working with suppliers and partners to improve transparency, compliance and sustainable procurement.

Governance and digital ESG management
We are connecting sustainability more closely with risk management, internal control, data and performance accountability.

In simple terms, we are moving from doing ESG as a separate topic to using sustainability as a way to improve the company, support customers and prepare for the future.

What are the key goals and ambitions for the future?

Looking ahead, our direction is clear. We want to continue building OPPLE into one of the world’s leading intelligent lighting brands, while supporting the transition to a lower carbon future.

Our key ambitions include:

• Moving towards a net zero future
• Reducing carbon intensity across the value chain
• Expanding renewable energy and green manufacturing
• Leading in smart lighting, healthy lighting and integrated lighting solutions
• Building a digital ecosystem from R&D to manufacturing, service and customer experience
• Supporting smarter cities, healthier spaces and more efficient buildings
• Creating positive impact through education, social programmes and industry collaboration

These goals reflect where the lighting industry is heading. Customers are looking for solutions that are not only efficient, but also intelligent, reliable and responsible. That is where we want to continue making a difference.
